Our Holiday Concert will be on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7:00 in the AHS cafeteria. Tickets can be purchased at the door:
Adults - $5
AHS Students - $3
Families - $10
Concert and Jazz Band members are ask to be in the cafe with their instruments ready to play at 6:15.
Please bring in your permission forms for the Feeder School Tour happening Friday, Dec. 6th. I can't bring anyone with us who does not get it in on time.
Registration for the Boston Trip is now open. The total cost of the trip is $829.00 that can been broken into four monthly payments of $182.24. This cost includes the following:
- All taxes
- Round trip transportation on a deluxe motor coach
- Four breakfasts and one dinner
-Four nights accommodation with four students per room in an air conditioned room with a private bathroom
-Entrance fees for visits, performances and workshops
-Tour guide
-Night Supervision

The Acton High School Concert Band will be meeting after rehearsal on Tuesday, October 29th for a pizza and scary movie night. The cost will be $5 for some pizza and a drink. Concert Band members can vote on the band facebook page to decide which movie will be shown. The night should be finished around 7:00-7:30.

This year a band trip has been planned for both the Acton High School Concert and Jazz Bands to Boston for May 10th - 14th!!!!!! We will be having an information night at the school on November 7th at 7:00. This will be a great chance for parents and guardians as well as students to have the travel company go through the itinerary, outline the total cost and answer any questions that may arise. See you then!!!
We have started our annual holiday fundraising campaign. This year we will be using MacMillans foods. Students can begin selling the product Tuesday, Oct. 22nd and final orders must be in to Mr. Clarke by Friday, Nov. 29th. All payment should be gathered at the time of sale with cheques made out to Acton High School. Pick up for the product will be Tuesday, Dec. 10th between 3:00 and 6:00. All funds raised in the is campaign will go to one of two areas:
1. If the band member decides to attend this years trip to Boston, all funds from their campaign will be applied to the cost of their trip.
2. If the band member decides not to participate in the trip to Boston, funds from their campaign will be used to purchase new instruments for the Music Department.
Our Holiday Concert will be held this Thursday, Dec. 15 at 7:00
Tickets will cost $5 for adults, $2 for students or children and $10 for a family (parents and children).
This is a wonderful evening of music and holiday favorites. Drinks and snacks will be served at intermission.
You can bring your baked goods into the main office on Friday or to the school on Saturday by 8:00.
Thursday, November 10 we are having a trip information meeting at 7:00 in the music room.
Tonight (Thursday, Oct. 20th) is Awards Night. Just a reminder that you have to be at the school, in the caf, ready to play at 6:30.
Commencement is tomorrow night (Friday, Oct. 21st). Please remember to be at the school for 6:00

Thursday, Nov. 10th at 7:00 in the music room the travel company that we are using for our spring band trip will be running an information session for both students and parents. This will be a chance to view an itinerary, learn about the travel company and ask about any questions or concerns you might have.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful summer and has come back excited for the new year! This year looks to be a very exciting one full of lots of different musical activities.
Our first meeting for Jazz and Concert band will be this Tuesday, September 13 in the music room at 3:30-4:00. This will be a meet and greet and an opportunity to get everyone set up with music, mouthpeices and instruments. Regular rehearsals will resume the following week as follows:
Concert Band Tuesdays 3:30 - 5:00
Jazz Band Wednesday 3:30 - 4:45
If you are interested in being a part of these ensembles come out to our first meeting.
Here are some upcoming music dates to remember: April 5 - Halton Showcase The Concert Band will not be participating in Halton Showcase this year, but various players are members of the Halton Senior and Intermediate Wind Ensembles. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased through the Ensemble directors. The evening begins at 7:00 and usually ends around 10:00 May 6 - Music Fest Canada This year we will be competing at a regional music festival. This festival is held in Newmarket at the Newmarket Theatre. Students are asked to be at the school early so that we can leave at 8:00 am. The cost is $10 per student in order to cover the bus. We will stop for lunch and students will have the option to purchase lunch or to bring a bagged lunch from home. We will return to the school in time for students to catch their busses home. May 12 - Annual Spring Concert We will be holding our annual spring concert at the school on May 12, at 7:00 pm. The cost for tickets is $3 or two tickets for $5. All proceeds go towards purchasing new instruments for the school. Bring your friends and family out to a wonderful evening of classical, jazz, pop and solo music! May 14 - 18 NYC Trip!!!!!!
Rooming lists will be done this Tuesday immediately following band rehearsal. Those who are not at the rehearsal can either have someone sign up for them or they will be place in a room. Rooms will be done in groups of four.
Please bring in money for sold cards to this Tuesday's (March 22nd) band rehearsal. The only way to get new cards to sell is to bring in your money from your old ones!!!!
